I will say this, upon further reflection of your story, I do wish you would have expounded a bit more on why the council unanimously agreed the curse does not apply to the king and his reaction to their reasoning. Most of part 2 was about the agonizing wrestling of the king not knowing what to do and at the end of this part, he appears to be fine with the plan and no longer worried at all. Maybe he still is, but i perceive him to be moving forward feeling good about things now. Just some food for thought.
